Steve Greig got a great idea on how to recover from the painful loss of one of his beloved dogs. When his miniature pincher Wolfgang died, he decided to adopt another dog from a shelter. He chose the least adoptable dog in the shelter; in fact, he adopted a sick and old chihuahua. Eeyore was a 12-year-old dog who had heart and knee problems when Steve adopted him.

That began Steve’s dedication to giving unadoptable elderly animals a loving home and the dignity they deserve.  He named his  group of adorable and sweet pets The Wolfgang in honor of his miniature pincher. Aside from his dogs, he has a potbelly pig,  a rabbit and a chicken.

Taking care of them is challenging for him because he needs to wake up early every morning to prepare their special meals. Some of them require eating assistance. And of course some also require medications.  Steve arranges his day around the group’s needs.

Steve believes there is a special relationship between an older dog and an owner.  He posts pictures of his gang on social media and promotes the adoption of senior pets.

“It’s just fulfilling knowing that these guys are happy and loved and well taken care of,” Steve said. “It make my days worthwhile.”
