A couple of decades ago, Eugene Bostick from Fort Worth, Texas officially retired from his job. However, he didn’t have an idea that after his retirement, his most impactful work would begin. Bostick became a train conductor for rescue dogs.

Bostick never planned on helping needy pets during his golden years. This accidentally happened because of other people’s heartlessness. He and his brother have a horse barn on their farm on a dead-end street, where some people would sometimes dump their unwanted dogs.

The brothers couldn’t take leaving the dogs outside to starve. So, they let them in, feed them, and bring them to the vet to be vaccinated, heartworm preventative and spayed and neutered. They have taken in many abandoned dogs over the years.

Bostick’s kindness doesn’t end there. He’s determined not just to keep the dogs safe, but happy too. His farm has so much room for all the dogs to run around and play. However, he thought that it would also be nice if he could take them on little trips outside of it. This inspired him to build a form of transportation that’s specially designed for his canine friends.

Bostick said that one day, he saw a guy whose tractor is attached to carts to pull rocks. This gave him an idea about the design of his dogs’ transportation. He used plastic barrels, cut holes in them, put wheels, and tied them together. That’s how his doggo train was born.

Once or twice a week, Bostick and his doggo crew would make a trip around town. They would also stop by the creek to get some fresh air. Bostick said that whenever the dogs hear him hooking the tractor up to the train, they all get very excited. They would run and jump into the train on their own.

While Bostick may not be able to do this for too long due to his old age, he said that he’d keep doing it for as long as he can. He’s happy to see the dogs have a great time. For him, bringing a bit of joy to these once neglected dogs is everything.
