Milan Stojanovic, a rescue worker from Dog Rescue Shelter in Mladenovac, Serbia, was on his way to the shelter when he noticed something by the side of the road. As he came close, he stopped to investigate. He knew it was an animal but he was still surprised to see that it was a young dog in the middle of nowhere.
There was an upcoming storm that time and the dog probably sought shelter in the bush, the rescuer told himself. She was alone, frightened, and confused. But she was even more astonished to see that someone stopped to help her.
The dog, which Milan named Lucy, later on, was no more than a year old. She was very young and yet, she experienced something cruel already. She was left out on her own to die.
There were no houses or people nearby. The only things that surrounded the area were cornfields, meadows, and speeding cars. It was a perfect spot to dump unwanted dogs.
Lucy seemed to understand that Milan was there to help her. She whimpered when she realized she was finally safe. She knew he wouldn’t hurt her.
The rescuer loaded the dog in the car and scanned her for a microchip. As expected, she didn’t have any. She probably had a family in the past but there was no solid proof to support that claim.
As Milan went back on the road, the rain started to pour. He couldn’t be any more thankful that he found Lucy minutes before the rainstorm. It was meant for him to find her.
The young dog went straight to her foster home, where she finished a full meal. She also enjoyed a nice bath. After spending some time in the cornfield, she was glad to finally feel clean and safe.
Lucy is a sweet girl and she gets along with all of her dog siblings. Mini, however, is her favorite. She’s like her mom and she protects her in any way she can.
